Het volgende bericht is opgesteld bij terugkomst in Nederland maar heeft betrekking op de activiteiten van Create in het Wilad House van eind juli en augustus.
Principal meeting
Op 23 en 24 juli hadden we een principal meeting (rectoren bijeenkomst) georganiseerd in het Wilad House waar 10 scholen vertegenwoordigd waren. De principals gaven aan dat hun teachers met meer plezier en enthousiasme werken binnen de scholen dankzij de gevolgde workshops bij Create. Meer joy en meer happiness werd benoemd.
De principals van private schools zijn niet georganiseerd in een overkoepelende organisatie. Daardoor was het voor de meeste principals de eerste keer dat ze elkaar ontmoetten. Tot 's-avonds laat waren we in gesprek met elkaar en vanuit iedereen kwam de vraag om met het geven van de workshops door te gaan maar daarnaast ook om een master trainingprogramma op te gaan zetten. De wens werd uitgesproken om lokale mensen op te leiden om trainingprogramma's te verzorgen die hun eigen leraren kunnen versterken op de manier waarop Create dat tot nu toe heeft gedaan. Deze master trainers kunnen dan vervolgens in de verschillende scholen ingezet worden om de lokale leraren bij te spijkeren. De volgende ochtend verlieten 3 principals al heel vroeg het Wilad House met hun lange reis van 5 uur terug naar de Nubra valley. Inmiddels is er ook vraag naar workshoptrainingen van Create in de verder gelegen gebieden van Ladakh , de Nubra valley en de Zanskar valley.
Tweede workshopweek
Na de evaluatie van de eerste workshopweek zijn dit een aantal reacties van groep trainers:

De algehele structuur van de eerste week kunnen we behouden voor de tweede week behalve de Engelse taalmethodologieen, die alleen in de eerste week is gegeven. Jammer want dit onderdeel bewees dat het bruikbaar is, ook voor andere talen. Het was belangrijk dat playful learning in het hele workshopprogramma wordt toegepast, een principe dat nog weer eens extra onder de aandacht wordt gebracht door Willemien bij de andere trainers. Voor de volgende workshop wordt meer ruimte gemaakt voor het observatieprogramma en de betekenis van creativiteit voor een teacher en student centered education.
We startten met 10 teachers in de tweede workshop week die met de bus van het Ladakh Alchi Institute arriveerden. De volgende dag zijn we uitgegroeid tot een groep van 16 teachers omdat deze teachers zelf een lange reis hebben moeten maken. Het Wiladhouse, Ad, Dorjee, Lou en Willemien staan weer voor hen klaar .
Het is een week geworden waarin we verder konden werken op de ervaringen van de eerste week. Een verdieping op het programma van child centered education, observatie, ontwikkelingspsychologie, de Vygotsky theorie en Sparke. Een week waarin de Snow Leopard organisation weer een dag participeerde. Een organisatie die beoogt met informatieve programma’s bewustzijn te ontwikkelen bij teachers en kinderen van Ladakh over het ecosysteem in Ladakh. Een heerlijke dag hebben we samengewerkt. Op een van de avonden hebben we een buitendiner georganiseerd en aansluitend Ladakhi en Tibetaans gedanst en gezongen gevolgd door een klein dansfeest. Met een goed gevoel zijn we de volgende dag begonnen aan de afrondende presentaties waarin in kleine groepjes gewerkt werd om in praktische vorm het geleerde aan elkaar te laten zien.
Met enkele traantjes bij het afscheid maar een voldaan gevoel zwaaien we de groep uit op woensdag 2 aug.
Follow up bijeenkomst met de Sarah Institute teacher
Op 4 augustus kunnen we 10 van de 13 teachers verwelkomen in het Wiladhouse als follow up programma voor de teachers van de scholen die deelgenomen hebben aan de wintercourse in Dharamsala. 8 van de 10 deelnemende scholen zijn daarmee vertegenwoordigd. Op het programma staat evaluatie van de periode maart t/m augustus 2011. De groep heeft in tweetallen gedurende deze periode met elkaar contact gehouden en iedereen heeft het programma dat gegeven is in de winterperiode door het Sarah instituut, geïntroduceerd in haar school. 6 van de 8 scholen hebben heel open gereageerd op de informatie over child centered education en het sparke programma. Er zijn 4 scholen die besloten hebben om child centered education en de sparke methode in te voeren. Helaas bleek dat er ook twee scholen waren die moeilijkheden tegenkwamen om de nieuwe kennis in de praktijk te brengen. Dat zal zeker tijd vragen om meer ondersteuning te geven zodat de straffen die nu gehanteerd worden, plaats kunnen maken voor andere methodes die toegepast kunnen worden bij het corrigeren en begeleiden van kinderen. Aandachtspunt voor het Create programma is dat er continuïteit ontwikkeld wordt in de ondersteuning om workshopprogramma’s toe te passen.
Tijdens deze bijeenkomst hebben we ook in de prayer room van het Wiladhuis de overstroming die vorig jaar plaatsvond op 5 aug. herdacht.
Het blijkt onder andere uit het etentje dat de vrouwen op 19 aug. hebben georganiseerd dat deze groep een hechte groep is geworden die zoals zij verwoorden uitzien naar de volgende zomeractiviteit van Create.

The following message was created back in The Netherlands and describes the activities of Create in the Wilad House the end of July and August.
Principal meeting
On the 23rd and 24th of July we organised a principal meeting in the Wilad House where 10 schools were represented. The principals of the private schools are not organised in an umbrella organisation. This meeting was for most principals the first time they met each other. The principals explained that their teachers work with more joy and enthusiasm thanks to the workshops given by Create. Till late in the evening we discussed topics concerning the schools. They expressed the importance of the continuation of the workshops by Create but also to set up a master training programme. A master training programme would aim to train local teachers to be able to provide workshop to other teachers in the way Create has done so far. These master trainers can then go to different schools in the region to train local teachers. The next morning 3 principals left already early to start their 5-hour journey back to the Nubra valley. This year more schools from remote areas like the Nubra valley and Zanskar valley are interested to attend Create's workshops.
Second workshop week
After the evaluation of the first workshop week some reactions from the group of trainers:

We kept the overall structure of the first workshop week except for the English language methodologies, which only took place during the first week. That was a pity because this part has proven to be very useful also for other language classes. It was important that the principle of playful learning was applied throughout the whole workshop programme.
During the second workshop more attention was given to the observation program and the meaning of creativity for teacher and student centered education. We started with 10 teachers arriving in the bus of the Ladakh Alchi Institute. The next day 6 other teachers arrived after a long journey to Likir. The Wilad House, Ad, Dorjee, Lou and Willemien were once again ready to receive a new group of teachers.
We could build on the experience of the first workshop week focusing on child-centered education, observation, social development psychology, the Vygotsky theory and the SPARKE program. This was another week where the Snow Leopard organisation participated in the programme during one day. Snow Leopard aims to create environmental awareness amongst the teachers and children of Ladakh on its ecosystem by providing informative educational programmes. The cooperation was very successful. During one of the evenings we organised an outdoor dinner with Ladakhi and Tibetan singing and dancing. With a good feeling we started the next day with the final presentations where the teachers worked together in small groups to show what they have learned.
With some tears in our eyes we said goodbye to the group on Wednesday 2nd of August.
Follow up meeting Sarah Institute teachers
On the 4th of August we welcomed 10 out of the 13 teachers who participated in the winter course in Dharamsala in the Wilad House with a follow up programme. 8 of the 10 schools were represented in this meeting. During these two days we evaluated their experiences in the period after their winter course from March 2011 till August 2011. The group was divided in pairs having regular contact about their efforts to put what they have learned at during the winter course into practice. 6 out of 8 schools responded very positively to the information about child-centered education and the SPARKE programme. 4 schools have decided to implement the programme of child centered education and SPARKE into their way of teaching. Unfortunately there were also 2 schools that faced difficulties to put their new knowledge and experiences into practice. It will take time and more support and follow up from Create to guide these schools to other methods and ideas about correcting and punishing the children. A point of interest for Create is to develop a better continuation and follow up of the Sarah Institute winter course and the summer workshops.
During the meeting we also paid attention to the flooding which struck the region last year on the 5th of August. We sat together in the prayer room of the Wilad House to commemorate last year's events.
On the 19th of August the teachers organised a dinner, showing that they have become a close group keeping regular contact with each other. They look forward to the next activity of Create.
